City of Erie to Close Kahkwa Ave. between Superior Ave. and Crescent Drive


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Erie, Pa. (Sept. 20, 2021) – Beginning Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, Kahkwa Ave., between Superior Ave. and Crescent Drive, will be closed indefinitely to vehicular traffic until a replacement structure can be constructed. The pavement structure is to be removed in preparation for the bridge demolition. 

The sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians until Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, at which time they will also be closed indefinitely.  

Also, beginning Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, a temporary four-way stop will be implemented at the intersection of W. 6th Street and Maryland Ave. to allow improved access to W. 6th Street for residents of the neighborhood west of Ravine Drive.

The demolition of the Kahkwa Ave. Bridge is scheduled for Oct. 11.  More information will follow as it becomes available.
