2023 Police Memorial Service set for Wednesday, to honor fallen officers

As part of National Police Week, the annual Police Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at Perry Square and will be hosted by the Erie County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #64 (the main host this year) and the Erie Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7.

“This ceremony will be about remembering and honoring our brothers and sisters who have lost their lives in the line of duty while displaying remarkable courage to protect others and make the ultimate sacrifice for their community,” Erie Police Department Deputy Chief William Marucci said on Monday. “And we will always remember and support the families of our fallen officers who had to suffer such a terrible loss.”

Participating agencies will include the Erie Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police. All Erie County police agencies are expected to send representation, including the Millcreek, Wesleyville and Lawrence Park police departments. Over 100 active law enforcement officers should be in attendance. Members of the Erie County Detectives and several other state & federal law enforcement agencies should be in attendance along with several state, county and local appointed and elected politicians.
