The Erie Mayor’s office invites residents across Erie to participate in a People’s Supper of their own. The People’s Supper uses shared meals to build trust and connection among people of different identities and perspectives, centered on the belief- to quote a popular adage- that “change moves at the speed of trust” and trust moves at the speed of relationships. In 2019, 80 Erie residents sat down for a series of People’s Suppers, exploring together their individual and collective Erie Stories. As this series uncovered pain points of racial inequity in our community, these participants came up with a series of projects to make Erie more equitable that are in process today. We invite you to use this guide from The People’s Supper to convene others across Erie- be it at your faith community, your company, or in your neighborhood- for a series of virtual People’s Suppers, continuing the conversation about how to make Erie a place where all residents have the opportunity to thrive.
